Requirements

FuzzyOptimizer leverages modern Unity compilation techniques and multithreaded computing for zero-lag editing and auditing:

ItemRequirementNotes
Unity VersionUnity 2022.3+Fully utilizes modern FindObjectsByType and background job systems
Render PipelineUniversal Render Pipeline (URP 17) recommendedBuilt-in Render Pipeline also supported out-of-the-box
Core PackagesBurst, Collections, Mathematics, Render Pipelines Core / UniversalInstalled automatically through the Unity Package Manager
uGUI SupportOptional (com.unity.ugui)UI audit rules activate automatically when the package is detected in the project

Installation

  1. Import the Package: Open the Unity Package Manager (Window > Package Manager), navigate to My Assets, locate FuzzyOptimizer, and click Import.
  2. First Run & Welcome Dialog: Allow Unity to compile assemblies. On first launch, the Welcome window opens with quick links to the Dashboard and the showcase scene. You can reopen it at any time from:
Window > Fuzzy Logic Labs > FuzzyOptimizer > Welcome
  3. Configure Version Control: Optionally add FuzzyOptimizerReports/ to your .gitignore file. All automated scan exports will be written there.

Package Directory Structure

FuzzyOptimizer organizes its assets cleanly under Assets/FuzzyLogicLabs/FuzzyOptimizer/:

FuzzyOptimizer/
├── Editor/ # Scene Doctor, audit rules, optimization tools, dashboard UI, reports, and CLI
├── Runtime/ # Production-ready runtime components (pooling, culling, billboards, benchmark markers)
├── Demo/ # Fuzzy Harbor showcase scene and its procedural demo assets
└── Tests/ # Comprehensive editor test suites

Your First Scene Scan

Running an audit on your scene takes less than 5 seconds:

  1. Open the scene you want to inspect.
  2. Open the dashboard via Window > Fuzzy Logic Labs > FuzzyOptimizer > Dashboard. The open scenes are scanned immediately. You can re-scan at any point by pressing F5.
  3. Choose your target platform in the dashboard header’s Target dropdown:
    • Mobile
    • Standalone VR
    • Desktop Mid (Default)
    • Desktop High
    • Custom (Assigned via Project Settings)
  4. The Overview page displays:
    • Health Score (0–100): Real-time weighted evaluation of scene quality.
    • Projected Score: What your score will become after running all non-destructive Safe fixes.
    • Budget Gauges: Current draw calls, visible triangles, and texture VRAM against your platform target.
    • Top Issues: Immediate high-priority bottlenecks requiring attention.

Your First Optimization

Depending on your workflow and risk tolerance, you can choose between an automated 1-click pipeline or an item-by-item manual review:

The Fast Path: One-Click Optimize

  1. Click One-Click Optimize on the Overview page (or use Window > Fuzzy Logic Labs > FuzzyOptimizer > One-Click Optimize…).
  2. Choose your optimization preset:
    • Safe: Import settings and non-visual render tweaks only.
    • Balanced (Recommended): Safe fixes + static tagging, LOD generation, material sharing, and occlusion setup.
    • Aggressive: Balanced fixes + HLOD, mesh combining, aggressive distance culling, and texture clamps.
  3. Review the included pipeline steps in the interactive preview dialog. Uncheck any step you wish to bypass.
  4. Click Apply. The complete sequence executes inside a single revertible session.
  5. The Results page displays a side-by-side before/after comparison. Click Revert at any time to undo all changes cleanly.

The Careful Path: Granular Scene Doctor Review

  1. Switch to the Scene Doctor tab to inspect issues grouped by audit rule category.
  2. Click Fix All Safe at the top right to apply all zero-visual-impact fixes in bulk.
  3. Review Moderate fixes category by category or rule by rule, inspecting the target objects in the Hierarchy before applying changes.

Try It on the Showcase Scene

To test FuzzyOptimizer without modifying your production project, open the bundled demo scene:

Assets/FuzzyLogicLabs/FuzzyOptimizer/Demo/FuzzyOptimizer_Showcase.unity

This scene (Fuzzy Harbor) contains deliberately crafted bottlenecks for every rule group (dense meshes, uncompressed 4K textures, unbaked occlusion, missing scripts, and un-instanced props). For an interactive walkthrough, see Showcase Scene: Fuzzy Harbor.
